Why hard work isn’t the only answer
Work hard, play hard – isn’t that how it’s supposed to go? So many of us these days work shift work, long hours and overtime. Working in hospitality can often mean the loss of a weekend, or even a full day off. And some of us, after spending long hours at work, come home to spend the rest of the night studying. It’s far too easy to end up with no time to yourself. So when does getting to ‘play hard’ even come into it?
When you’re particularly busy with work or study, or both, it’s important to make sure you still have time to rest and relax. For those of our members that are struggling to maintain a healthy work-life balance at this time of year, here’s four tips to help make sure you’re getting plenty of “me time”.
Plan your week
Planning out your activities and obligations for the week can really help give you an idea of where you’re spending most of your time. If you know work will be busy, try to schedule some down time after work or on a day off. It’s important to dedicate some time for yourself, otherwise even your free time could be eaten up by appointments, household obligations or social events.
Use online tools
With so many services available digitally these days, using online tools can make life’s tasks much easier. You can automate your bill payments by choosing direct debit options, and streamline your banking by scheduling various monthly or weekly payments. Even your super can be managed online! Most forms and consolidation tools needed to manage your Intrust Super account are available on our website. You can also log in to MemberAccess to view your account details and transactions any time. Start streamlining your life administration and find more time for yourself!
Look after your health
Your health is important, and if you don’t take the time to rest and recover, your body can start to protest! When you’re busy and rundown or not getting enough sleep, your body can be more susceptible to illness. So it’s important to make sure you get enough rest, or you might end up being forced into taking time off.
Illness and injury can unfortunately be facts of life, so it’s especially important to have financial protection if something unexpected should occur. Intrust Super offers members PayGuard income protection insurance, which can replace up to 90% of your income while you are unable to work. Intrust Super members can also be covered by up to $300,000* with life and TPD insurance (extra cover can be applied for). It’s a simple way to protect yourself and your family if anything unexpected should happen!

Ask for help!
If you are struggling with the amount of work on your plate, remember there’s no shame in asking for a little help. We can all take on a little too much sometimes, and some assistance from a colleague, friend or partner might be all that’s needed. At Intrust Super, we strive to provide easy assistance to any member who needs it through a personal account manager. If you have received a digital welcome card, you’ll find your account manager’s direct number listed on the contact. You can also submit a request through Super Concierge to have us contact you!
